So I've been eagerly awaiting this movie. I've read the book and seen the Swedish version but upon hearing Daniel Craig was going to play Mikael Blomkvist I knew this would be a must see in the movie theatre movie for me.
I went to see it today and I'm glad I did. I'm a bit disappointed that this movie hasn't done that well at the box office because it decreases the chances they'll make the next book. I thought both Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara were fantastic in their roles and in portraying the relationship between Mikael and Lisbeth.
I read a lot about them changing the ending up a bit and I have to say I like the way they handled it. It made for a more streamlined plot and since the movie already checks in at over 2.5 hours I think it was the right way to handle it.
Lisbeth's rape at the hands of her guardian and her revenge was very graphically disturbing to watch. I'm not sure it needed to be that graphic, honestly, but it was well done and really drew me in to Lisbeth's story.
One of the supporting roles I wished I could have seen more of was Armansky. I've never really been a fan of Goran Visnjic but he did an amazing job with the couple scenes he got. I really felt all of the book's subtext for his character come through in the few scenes he did get.
If you have the time to see this movie in the theatre do it. It's well worth the price of admission.
